General advice warning

The information on this website is general information only. It has been prepared without taking into account your objectives, financial situation or needs. Because of that, you should consider whether the information is appropriate for your circumstances before acting on it, and consider seeking advice from a licensed financial adviser. GreenValley does not hold an Australian Financial Services Licence and does not provide financial product advice.

Our regulatory status in Australia

GreenValley is an independent publisher of general educational information about stock markets and listed companies, operating from Perth, Western Australia. We are not licensed or authorised to provide financial services, and we do not hold an Australian Financial Services Licence (AFSL). We are not an authorised representative of any AFSL holder. We are not a market participant, broker, dealer, fund manager, custodian, tax agent or law firm.

Nothing published on this site, and nothing said in any paid consultation, is financial product advice or personal advice within the meaning of the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth). No content creates an adviser–client relationship, and no content should be read as a recommendation, offer or invitation to buy, sell or hold any financial product.

If you want advice about your own circumstances, consult a licensed adviser. You can verify whether a person or business holds an AFSL, or is an authorised representative of an AFSL holder, using the free registers published by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission. We encourage you to check anyone who offers you financial advice, including anyone who contacts you after reading this site.

What our content is, and what it is not

All guides, explainers and analysis published here are general educational material. They describe how markets, documents, reporting standards and investment concepts work. They do not account for your financial situation, objectives, tax position or tolerance for loss, and they are not tailored to any individual reader.

In particular, our content is not:

Risk warning

Investing in shares and other financial products involves risk. The value of an investment can fall as well as rise, and you may get back less than you invested — in some cases, the entire amount. Past performance is not a reliable indicator of future performance. Any worked example, historical description or illustration of a strategy on this site is used to explain a concept and is not a projection of what will happen. Where we describe a company's past results, that description is not a statement about its future results.

How this site earns money

Revenue comes from one source: the optional research-education consultation described on our services page. That service is educational work on research method and is priced and scoped in writing before it begins.

The site currently carries no advertising, no sponsored content, no paid placements, no affiliate links, and no commission arrangements of any kind. We do not receive payment or other consideration from any issuer, broker, fund manager or product provider in exchange for coverage. If any of this changes, the arrangement will be disclosed on this page and marked clearly on the affected content before it is published.

Conflicts of interest

We hold no positions that we write about, and we do not trade on the basis of content before it is published. Our editor does not accept payment to cover a company, to avoid covering a company, or to soften a critical passage. No company is given an opportunity to review or approve editorial content before publication. Where a guide discusses a company, it relies on that company's own public disclosures, which are equally available to every reader.

Our paid consultation work is deliberately scoped so that it cannot create a conflict: it concerns how to read company documents, not which companies to read. A client cannot pay us for a more favourable conclusion about a security, because we do not reach conclusions about securities at all.

Sources, data and dates

Our guides rely on primary documents: annual reports, financial statements and their accompanying notes, ASX and regulatory announcements, prospectuses and official notices. Where we state a figure, it comes from a document we can point you to and that you can check yourself, usually free of charge.

Market rules, reporting standards and company circumstances change. A guide describes the position as at the date it was published and reviewed, and both dates appear on the page. Where a description of a market rule or accounting standard has since changed, we update the page or withdraw it. Do not treat an undated or superseded description as current.

No guarantees

We do not promise that our content is complete or free from error, and we do not promise any investment outcome. We make no representation that reading our guides, or following any method described in them, will improve your investment results. Fees for our services are never contingent on any investment result.

Editorial independence

Editorial decisions are made solely by our editor and are not subject to the approval of any commercial party. The full detail of how we source, check, correct and withdraw content is set out in our editorial policy.
